You recently changed your name from Link Union to Dawson Hollow. How long did you have your first band name and how did you come up with it?

The first band we were in was called The Link Family (7 years) because it was literally our family doing music together, kind of a weekend hobby thing.

The Link Family started to grow where we could actually make a living. It kept growing and the stigma of ‘family’ started holding us back based on people’s assumption that this was a hobby and not a professional product so we chose to change to the name Link Union. Link= meaning we are family and Union= meaning we choose to do this together.

We are now keeping the family band just as is and are launching a new band Dawson Hollow. This band is  the 5 siblings. They are creating a new sound for this generation. Link Union will continue to tour as Dawson Hollow grows and then when Dawson Hollow can take over the business, Link Union will diminish.

What was the hardest part about changing the band name to Dawson Hollow?

Getting our fans and repeat venues to follow and remember the new name. Creating new product, changing all web and social media presence to the new name, changing old product such as cd artwork, business cards ect.

We did not change the name for already booked venues. We kept it as simple as possible and changed the name to all venues booked after the name change. We sent out emails to our fan base announcing the new name and promoted it on social media and our website.

Who are you listening to now that inspires you?

Dawson Hollow band members listen to a wide range of music for inspiration. We love to draw from different styles and then fuse them together for our sound.  Always pulling a little from old time/ancient instruments, old soul sounds, beauty in tradition and hope in the future. Here is a list of people currently influencing Dawson Hollow.

2. Learn the Tom Jackson ‘Live on Stage‘ method.

3. Better yourself in every area- mind, body and spirit.
