Luke Cloutier released his second single on March 6 called “Better Man”. After a successful debut with “Drown”, Cloutier is excited to continue down his path of raw, honest lyrics paired with a stunning acoustic sound. J. Luke Cloutier is an indie-folk singer-songwriter with a “style [that] works both classic and contemporary cogs” (B-Sides & Badlands). The songwriter is now taking listeners on his humbling journey of facing life’s challenges with the new song “Better Man”.

We were previously writing specifically to briefs for TV and film pitches. The writing change allowed us to explore more ideas outside of our own personal boxes. It was something more than what came natural to us on our personal projects. Zach and I finished writing the record last July and realized we had something pretty cool on our hands.

I would tell myself to take it much more seriously and take it much less seriously also – if that makes any sense. No one is going to do anything for you better than you will do it for yourself, so take seeing ideas through and getting things done more seriously. But also keep it your mind that this is Rock n Roll we’re talking about here – if you aren’t having a good time, how is anyone else supposed to?

Well, we definitely aren’t your granddad’s bluegrass band, that’s for sure. We like to honor the tradition of bluegrass music while at the same time we attempt to create something new, often with a heavy emphasis on improvisation. Every show should be a separate experience from the last. We essentially are trying to write music that we’d like to listen to and dance to ourselves and each one of us comes from a very different background.
