Well, we definitely aren’t your granddad’s bluegrass band, that’s for sure. We like to honor the tradition of bluegrass music while at the same time we attempt to create something new, often with a heavy emphasis on improvisation. Every show should be a separate experience from the last. We essentially are trying to write music that we’d like to listen to and dance to ourselves and each one of us comes from a very different background.

But if there was one thing I could go back and tell myself, it would be to just take things in stride and not let myself get too worked up about things that can happen to you in this ever-changing thing they call the music business. I’ve been lucky to have a lot of guidance along the way so far. But I’ve also had to make some pretty big decisions on my own, some for better, some for worse. But it’s definitely a learning experience.

We were putting in the work and realized that you don’t become a rock star until you are too tired to enjoy it. Keeping our heads down and eye on the prize. That is how we did it. We always say that rule number is to have fun while you’re doing it.
