If you’re like me, part of being a musician means I’m not the best at math (I know that doesn’t hold true for all you math rockers out there!). The first year I quit my job, and when out on my own freelancing was terrifying. Making ends meet, budgeting, paying the bill. It adds up to quite a bit of calculation.

To or not to play Cover songs. If you agree wholeheartedly with the above sentiment and are a born rebel with a taste for adventure, then the life of a musician may very well suit you. However, even rebels must support themselves; even rebels have bills to pay.

When singing, always take deep breaths and sing from the diaphram. Remember your vocal chords are small muscles and will fail you if you over work them. Its almost like pushing to take a crap, only directing all that wind power over your vocal chords.

I’ve read Zen Guitar by Phil Sudo at least seven times. Every time I need to be inspired or feel that I’m stuck in the box, I look for the book underneath my bed.
