Hip-hop/R&B artist Luv Troi followed the release of his single “ODOYK” with a music video on April 2. The track is a lead single off his upcoming mixtape MANIA, releasing April 20, and has a unique take on love and lust in a relationship. Luv Troi created “ODOYK” in May of 2020, after getting the beat from Los Angeles producer, Fletch. “I would have never guessed when making it that “ODOYK” would be a lead single for MANIA,” says Luv Troi. “I think the song gives a great sense of what the project sounds like and I think this one could easily be a fan-favorite.” After a successful release of his Valentine’s Day single “PINK,” Troi’s fans are eagerly awaiting new music.
“ODOYK” has a bright, youthful sound that perfectly fits Luv Troi’s radiant essence in the genre. The lyrics nod to the way he – and many people – tend to overindulge when they fall for someone or something. The rapper is immensely proud of the new single and the uniqueness behind it. “This is the song you play while driving home from the best date of your life,” says Luv Troi. The music video complements the song “like crazy,” according to the artist, and is bound to be a huge hit with fans.
Luv Troi is a hip-hop artist and producer from San Diego. From a young age, he felt he had a strong sense of maturity of intuition that led him to start finding his purpose in life early. Through the years, Luv Troi picked up countless instruments, attempted DJing, and even rapped as “Troi Boiii” at the age of 13 on Soundcloud. It wasn’t until high school when Troi fell in love with production and really knew music could be his platform to better society and influence others. He studied music production for a year at ICON collective in L.A. where he started recording vocals and writing over his beats. During that time Luv released his first song called “Girl I I” in March of 2020, and has since released a handful of singles. Fans can look forward to Troi’s upcoming singles and Mixtape releasing later this year.
What artists are you listening to these days?
I been listening to a lot of Brent Faiyaz, D Savage, and Seafood Sam. Each of those guys really embody their style and sound well. With my newer stuff, I’m trying to capture the swagger and confidence those guys bring to their music.
Where does your inspiration come from?
Meeting new people and hearing what drives them helps me stay grounded and appreciate what I’m working towards. Seeing someone passionate about their craft the same way I am about music puts a smile on my face and makes me want to go harder at my passion.
Are you working on any new projects now that ODOYK is released?
-I am working on my next project titled “intuition” which I hope to have done and released before the year is out but it is still in the demo stage. Definitely more rap and upbeat stuff compared to “MANIA”.
How has COVID-19 affected you and your community?
I have had so much more time to create music which has accelerated my music career in a way I didn’t think was possible. I started recording songs in january of 2020 and I have now probably written and recorded 300 tracks since. However, I feel like collaborations are harder to come by and less genuine in these times since we haven’t been going out or meeting up in the studio for a minute. Thankfully my family and friends have stayed safe and hopefully we can get things back on track in 2021.
Who inspired you to make music?
I don’t come from a musical background, so the artists I listened to in middle school and high school definitely inspired me to create/pursue music. I love all kinds of music, but I’ve always been a huge Hip Hop fan. I got into it first because of guys like lil wayne and kanye since they were the best and most popular at the time. But once I got older and witnessed the careers of guys like Kid cudi and KYLE, and even more recently with dominic fike and juice wrld. I started to believe in myself more and thought,” why couldn’t I be just like the guys I’ve looked up to?”. Hip hop has always been my favorite genre but I have learned so much and became who I am through just music in general.
What is one message you want to share with your fans?
Be yourself, make your own decisions, and treat others the way you want to be treated. Also thank you to anyone who gives me support, you’re the people who help me live out my dreams.
What is your relationship like with Social Media and how does it play a role in your music career?
I mention this in a handful of songs but I have an interesting relationship with the internet and social media, similar to others my position. My generation has a hard time separating online and real life often and they struggle with it. But I also still see socials as a great tool to better communication, gain information, and find entertainment, when used correctly. Social media is a great way for me as an artist and a person to inform others on my projects and life events. But it’s hard to not get distracted by the negativity and ego that fuels social media.
